I'm getting sick up & fed of this!!!

You won't see many posts from me here if I can't get THIS sorted out!
The connection has timed out
The server at www.blogger.com is taking too long to respond.
It normally takes me half a dozen tries to post something, so unless I can find a way to speed it up I'll be looking for another blogger site. Maybe its popularity is slowing it down?

Who'd a thunk it?

After the cyclone earlier this year that wiped out 95% of the banana plantations, bananas hit over $15 per kilo. They stopped offering banana smoothies in the mall and a few banana jokes made the rounds. But lo & behold here in the middle of winter we are eating BANANAS right off our little backyard banana tree. We've gotten two bunches off it, picked'em dark green and hung them up. Only about 10cm (4inches) long but nice & sweet. I knew Sydney was semi-tropical but I didn't expect this. O
Oops, the secrets out, now watch the visitors start rolling up!

Mum's new job

Mum has been taking an aged care course and has now started as an AIN (assistant in nursing). She visits up to half a dozen people in their homes to help with a varity of things. Two of her patients have already passed away. This is not a reflection on her care :-/
Not all of the patients are old; some are disabled. Sometimes she has to leave by 6am to start.

I recant on Open Office

Great program but just a little to slow & bloated. I really don't need all the functions either. Now I'm trying 'Abiword', so far it looks great! Clear & clean & opens in a flash. Has all the dictionaries and even translation plugins etc. saves as doc or rtf & other and, it only takes up 10% of the space of open office!
Speaking of bloated, I'm using Foxit to open PDF files instead of the slow Acrobat Reader. Also back to using Firefox. Linux is still a ways off.
I know either I'm preaching to the converted or you have multi gigabytes of memory & space but I thought I'd toss out some tips I've learned or am learning.

Not the Blacktown RSL

That was just a joke. I filled in for Greg when the area kids group 'Fantastic Friends' needed a guitar player. Charity wondered how to introduce me..."straight from the Blacktown RSL!" You probably need to be from Sydney to get it. Anyway, it was fun. The kids sang at one of the local retirement villages run by the Salvos. Nice place and great audience. Besides singing with the kids, I sang "A Thing Called Love" which Jonny Cash used to sing. Could be a regular at these places, especially if I practice a few more country songs.
The kids did a great skit on "The Ant & the Grasshopper". Also an active "Two Frogs".

Testimony night from India

Vico's dad, Ho, was visiting from India so it was a great chance to hear what the Lord's been doing with them the last few years. He was at the receptiion home when we arrived in Madras in 82. He had a heartfelt thanks for those of us who had been there in the early days and helped lay the foundation for the work there. Here we are.
Ruth got on to me for not updating this more so I got her sister Libby to take a picture of us for you all. I got on to her for not updating her's more, then I found out I've been looking at the wrong one. Here's hers if you don't already have the link. Thanks Ruth!

Happy Birthday Serena & Anaik

It's getting to the point where you shouldn't put the correct ammount of candles on the cake.

Mum made a nice chicken dinner for Serena. Leona had a great time too.

Happy Birthday Alan!!!!!!!!

Had a nice chat with Alan for his birthday. It would be fun to get him together with his cousins of the same age; Alex, Aiden & Jordan. All six now, wow!
We love you Alan, hope you had a fun birthday party.
PS. This is the 4th time I've tried to post this. Blogspot seems to be busy a lot of the time.

So, what's happening?

It's said that the training procedure with cats is difficult. It's not. Mine had me trained in two days.
Missy gets me up everyday early for breakfast, hers not mine. 4:30 was a bit early the other day but I realized it was time for the Aussie/Italian match at the world cup. Just in time to see the robbery. Here's what some of the world headlines said about it. So I wouldn't disturb mum I watched while listening to the commentary on radio with earphones. Just as it started they switched to Italian, Australia is very multicultural, so I had to scramble around and find another station broadcasting the game in english. I've never followed sport much but this has been interesting. Now there's not much inspiration to watch. Who to barrack for now?
